Title: Artists Often Seem To Hate Their Most Popular Works
Fandom: Silmarillion
Characters: Maglor, Elrond
Rating: iunno. PG, maybe?
Genre: general, angsty
Summary: A doubledrabble about Maglor's feelings towards A Elbereth Gilthoniel.  Probably takes place in Rivendell at some point and takes the assumption that Maglor wrote A Elbereth Gilthoniel, an idea to which I am not particularly attached, save in that it amuses me with its irony for several reasons.

Silm: The Prince and the Harpist

Title: The Prince and the Harpist or How Maeglin and Salgant Met
Fandom: Silmarillion
Characters: Maeglin, Salgant
Rating: iunno. PG, maybe?
Genre: general with a bit of character study, I guess?
Summary: Lomion's first time in his uncle's court and the making of a friend.

Notes: Lomion = Maeglin; Turukano = Turgon, Itarillë = Idril, and Salgant, Lord of the House of the Harp, is out of the Book of Lost Tales... 2, I think? I think it's the second one wherein the Fall of Gondolin is...  In any event, as in almost all Silmarillion-related things I write, I happily adapt or ignore bits from the notes and published works and so forth as it suits me. So, the Salgant I envision isn't quite the Salgant depicted in BoLT, though they have elements in common - namely Sal's position in Gondolin, his tendency to suck up to others, his lack of being particularly bold or daring, as most other elf-lords seem to be, he takes a liking to Maeglin, and oh yeah, he plays a harp very nicely.  And also, I should note that Maeglin is 80 years old here (well, eighty and a few months), and in my headcanon, that means he's not yet considered a full adult among Elves. I don't think that's fully relevant here, but it's just a note.

Story behind cut. :)Collapse )

(this is the genderbender one) ;; Snippit 2: (taking place once Fingolfin & co have reached Lake Mithrim) Nolofinwë watches a messenger from the Feanorions approach and nurses his anger, but the news the messenger delivers is quite a bit more than he ever expected.

"Please. It's time for you to come home."Collapse )

Comments & credit appreciated, though not necessary!

I just hope they make you giggle, too. :) If I can find my copy of this film, I might just make more icons out of it. >D And if I ever get a .gif editor program, someday I might try my hand at animated ones.
